
A Brief Guide to the Dense Downtown Neighborhood Tenderloin in San Francisco
The Tenderloin is situated in the downtown area of San Francisco. It is sandwiched in between the high priced residential neighborhood and commercial areas. The region is known for high rates of crimes such as robbery and assaults. Petty crimes, illegal drug trade, strip clubs, liquor stores and prostitution give the entire neighborhood a very seedy reputation.

The Tenderloin neighborhood is particularly the home for low income groups of the society. There are a number of remarkable architectural landmarks located here like the old Hibernia Bank which is situated by the side of McAllister Street and Jones Street. The first Law school of California, UC Hastings is also located here.
Some of the popular theatres located here include Golden Gate & Orpheum Theatres, American Conservatory Theater, EXIT Theater, New Conservatory Theater, The Last Planet Theater, and Off-Market Theater among many others.

The galleries in Tenderloin neighborhood include Shooting Gallery, 509 Cultural Center and the Luggage Store. There are a bars littered in the area. The 65 Club and 21 Club are two very well known dive bars there. A number of new and trendy bars have come up over the years. There are entertainment facilities like Dixieland-oriented Gold Rush; piano bar of Lefty O'Doul is most of the bars.
The guests can enjoy live music in Warfield Theater and the Great American Music Hall. There were a number of strip clubs few years back. However, over the years there has been significant decrease in the total number of such clubs. The very well theatre is the Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theater.
