There is an active community of surfers out here with a lot of shops and cafes to meet the tourist demand in this place.
Baker beach is the other beach and is open to the public all year round. This was a military base from the late 1700s till as recently as 1997. Then there is the North Beach which is basically a neighborhood in San Francisco adjacent to the Fisherman's Wharf. To name a few there is the Radisson Hotel at the Fisherman's Wharf, Days Inn at the Beach, Courtyard SF Fisherman's Wharf, Comfort Inn by the bay, and the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf. The Wharf is a historical area in San Francisco and home to its Italian population since the start. The room rates at these hotels ranges from $129 and goes upward till $229 per night. A majority of these hotels have on-site parking, indoor spa, on-site guest laundry, and complimentary breakfast buffet.
