Intro to Filbert Street Steps
Filbert Street refers to a street that runs from east to west in San Francisco. It starts at Lyon Street on the eastern side of The Presidio, and moves eastward from this point, intersecting Van Ness Avenue as well as Columbus Avenue. After reaching the Telegraph Hill, it ends at Kearny Street close to Coit Tower where it becomes a stairway for pedestrians called Filbert Street Steps.

The Filbert Street Steps have stairs which snake through the sculpture gardens as well as art deco buildings. One of the most amazing sights here are those cars which are parked near the stairs, tightly wedged against each other precariously at steep angles. The seemingly never ending climb of the stairs, though steep is brief, offering a magnificent view of San Francisco at every step.

Though this place is open twenty four hours of the day, day time is most suitable while visiting the stairs. This is an attraction which will hold most appeal to the adults and pre - teen age groups.
