Winter in San Francisco can get chilly but it's also the wettest season. So make sure you pack an umbrella along with a good overcoat and sweater. It hasn't snowed in San Francisco since 1976 but December and January can get fairly chilly. Rains can last all the way to February and sometimes well in March and April. Don't be surprised by unexpected sunny days. Up to 5 inches of rain can be experienced during this season.
Fall is the best season by far with sunny and dry days including some of the hottest days of the year. The nights are clear and pleasant.
