San Francisco: What is the current Minimum wage set as per the Minimum Wage Ordinance

Considering the steep cost of living in San Francisco, the city was forced to up is minimum wage paid twice in as many years. On January 1, 2008 the minimum payable wage increased from $9.14 to $9.36.

The rate was upped again effective January 1, 2009 to $9.79. The current minimum wage is $1.79 more than that of the state of California.

San Francisco's minimum wage is determined each year by the consumer price index. San Francisco has been determining the minimum wage this way since the creation of the Minimum Wage Ordinance in 2004.

The current rate will remain effective for the year 2010 as well.
