The legal systems make an extra effort in San Francisco to reach out to the non-English speaking community.

To cope with this language barrier when approaching the justice system, programs like ACCESS (Assisting Court Customers with Educational and Self-Help Services) have been created which aim at making justice accessible, improving the satisfaction levels of non-English speakers with the court system and improving the court's efficiency in dealing with such cases.

The city's police have also decided to install tip lines specially for the Spanish and Cantonese speaking community. Ingleside Station has already put this into practice.
