This festival first was started in 2002 by a joint collaboration between Green America and Global Exchange. In the six years since, it has grown beyond expectations with the 2008, Green Festival lasting three days with about 150 speakers and 400 environmentally friendly businesses participating.

The festival has had a positive influence on the practical application of a number of environmentally friendly changes in the local community, creating a healthier environment to live in.

This year the three day festival was held from the 13th to the 15th of November, 2009. It included films, activities, workshops, technology, live music and food.
