The 1990s of San Francisco
San Francisco saw the sudden and rapid rise of the Silicon Valley in the 1990s. The computer industry pioneered in this region by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak suddenly grew into an industry with many more entrepreneurs jumping onto the bandwagon in search of quick money. This was the famous dotcom boom of the 1990s.
Just as it rose with great rapidity though, the boom ended equally quickly by the start of the next century with people losing millions on the stock market when NASDAQ dipped drastically on the 10th of March, 2000.
This bust-up was accompanied by a steep rise in the price of real estate in San Francisco.
