Festivals & Events

There is an amazing array of festivals and events that are held in San Francisco all through the year. Almost everyday there is something of interest being conducted in the city. Also, the mild climate of the region ensures that virtually every weekend there is some big festival or event being held. Some of the major events in the city include:

Cherry Blossom Festival: This is held in the month of April. It is a kid friendly event for travel in San Francisco and includes a street fair, a parade, and lively music.

Fringe Festival: This festival is held after Labor Day at a number of theaters that are situated in the Civic Center-Tenderloin area. It is a 10 day long festival that is based on theatrical experimentation. It is a fun filled event in which a lot of people participate enthusiastically.

San Francisco Blues Festival: This festival is held in the month of September and is the oldest Blues festival in the world. It attracts some of the best Blues performers from all parts of the world.

San Francisco International Film Festival: The festival is held at the Presidi in the Golden Gate. There are however smaller festivals that are held in different places all over the city. The festival is held for two weeks in the months of April and may. The event is organized by the San Francisco Film Society. There are documentaries, art house movies, as well as short films that are shown in different places in the city.

Tet Festival: The event is held in the Civic Center-Tenderloin region. It is held in the months of January and February. The fest celebrates New Year n a Vietnamese style. It brings a good opportunity to sample some of the best Vietnamese cuisines in the region.

Union Street Art Festival: This event is held in the month of June. It brings together a number of local artists who get an opportunity to display their crafts. There is also classical music and jazz that is played during the event for tourists on San Francisco travel and tourism.
