The Castro District, popularly called The Castro is a Eureka Valley Neighborhood in San Francisco, California. It is regarded as the world's most renowned gay neighborhood, after being changed from a regular service - class neighborhood throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The Castro San Francisco is a symbol as well as the source of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) events and activism. The queer identity of Castro is by itself a popular tourist attraction, which beckons a large number of pilgrims as well as revelers from every corner of the world.
