San Francisco Travel Tips

San Francisco is a city that has got place in many Hollywood hits too and is a regular for movie shooting schedules. As it has too many attraction spots and activities to offer.

Tip 1 - Whet your appetite and have your fill at the excellent seafood restaurants along Fisherman's Wharf. Here you will find the Ghirardelli Square, Pier 39, and the ferry that will take you to Alcatraz Island. Don't forget to wear clothing and slather on sun block, especially when traveling during the summer. The excellent weather of San Francisco makes it a great place for many tourists.

Tip 4 - San Francisco Chinatown is a place where you feel like as if you are in China. It's buildings, people, food and shops are all full of Chinese culture.

Tip 5 - If you want to have a feel of the old times in San Francisco then do take a tour of the Cable Cars. It runs across the Financial District, Chinatown to San Francisco Waterfront, where it ends but the complete city is covered in a beautiful manner.

Museum of Modern Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is a very unique museum where you won't find famous paintings from well-renowned painters or ancient sculptures and such but here you'll find some of the bizarre, artistic, creative and fun modern arts.

The museum is located at the Third Street of San Francisco and was established back in 1935 under Dr. Grace Morley. This is the first ever museum on West Coast that only house 20th century art. The museum was not at its original location as it only moved to the Third Street in the year 1995 but for most of its life it was occupying the higher levels of the War Memorial Veterans Building.

There's a Museum of Modern Art in New York so the name for the San Francisco version of the Museum of Modern Art was renamed and it is now called SFMOMA where the words "San Francisco" was added to make it original and less confusing.

Frida was exhibited in the summer of 2008. Some of her paintings were displayed at the museum and photographs of her were also displayed. It was, by far, the most attended exhibition of the museum in over 73 years! For this year, the museum had already announced that there will be an exhibit for the works of Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keeffe some time this summer.

The construction for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Rooftop Garden had began in 2008 and this will add another 1,340 square meter of space for even more exhibitions. The Rooftop Garden is designed to be like a gallery without ceiling and this May 2009 it will be opened as hoped.
