The historic center of the city is bordered by Market Street to the south. San Francisco neighborhoods is centered with Union Square, the principal hotel and shopping district. Cable cars inclines up steep summit of Nob Hill, and down to Fisherman's Wharf, a tourist area for San Francisco travel that is still an active fishing industry. One can find the Russian hill, a residential area, with Lombard Street and Telegraphic Hill featuring Colt tower.
San Francisco neighborhoods adjoins Chinatown established in 1860s. It is also known as crime infested under belly of the city. The city was populated with migrants from Germany, Ireland, Scandinavia and Italy. In the late 1950s, migrants from Mexico began to predominate the city. Haight-Ashbury is associated with the most famous hippie culture, but later on became a home to boutiques.
Eureka Valley, is the center of gay life in the city. San Francisco neighborhoods Marina is lively area with young urban professionals. The Richmond area lying North to Golden Gate Park is also known as new China town attracting immigrants from Asia and Russia. To its South lies Sunset with Asian majority population. These are largely known as middle class areas of the city.
Bayview-Hunter's Point is the poorest San Francisco neighborhoods and suffers high rate crime. The South of Market has seen most significant redevelopment. By 2004, South of market began seeing skyscrapers and condominiums. Ocean beach runs along the shoreline with coasts forming deadly rip currents often making it unsafe to swim.
The city has more than 200 parks maintained by parks department. San Francisco neighborhoods are known to have the best city parks stretching to the Pacific Ocean side. The city is rich with culture and natural attractions. It is characterized with high standard of living. The city draws many highly educated and wealthy merchant residents. The city's real estate and house hold income have escalated amongst one of the highest in the nation.
