Steinhart Aquarium
If you are fond of the marine life and you are living in San Francisco, California then you probably know about Steinhart Aquarium and must have been there at least once. Why not? It's home to over 6,000 diverse marine animals in its 165 tanks!
Each of the 165 tanks are created to mimic the real environment underwater and it's been painstakingly created so that San Francisco travel visitors like you would truly feel as if you are looking at these marine animals on their real environment. Of course the benefit really goes to the fishes as those captured from the sea won't feel so home sick.
There are about 600 species of fish, reptiles, large invertebrates, amphibians and even penguins at the Steinhart Aquarium and they are really fun to watch. You'll learn so much about these animals and you'll definitely want to visit over and over again.
You can have a glimpse of the Amazon, the California kelp forest, the Sierran trout steam, the Mississippi River and even the San Francisco Bay through some of these tanks. Also, they have the Fish Roundabout where you can stand in the midst of this giant 100,000 gallon tank where open ocean fishes are swimming.
You can have a hands-on experience with some of the creatures here too. At their Touch Tidepool you can touch sea stars, hermit crabs, sea urchins as well as the anemones. It's great to experience these animals and to feel them with our hands.
In Steinhart Aquarium you can also find their Shark Tank where visitors who travel in San Francisco can feel really creepy as they watch the tropical reef sharks. It's a bit scary at first but then you'll find yourself mesmerized by these wonderful sea creatures. Also, you will find a 6,000 gal Coral Reef where there's a mini ecosystem of corals of different kinds and reef fishes swim in and out of the corals gladly.
